The Department of Post has commenced bookings for delivery of holy water
of the Krishna River. Devotees can order their requirement at any Post Office
and obtain a receipt for the same, according to Senior Superintendent of Post
Offices (Visakhapatnam Division) K.V.L.N. Murthy.
The arrangement has been made in view of the ‘Krishna Pushkaralu’,
scheduled to be held from August 12. The holy water, to be delivered in 500 ml
bottles, would be priced at Rs.30. Any number of bottles could be booked on a
single receipt, Mr. Murthy told the media here.
The delivery of holy water bottles would begin on August 13 and continue
till August 25. He appealed to all interested persons to make use of the
opportunity and make their bookings early. Devotees could also book their
orders online. Details could also be obtained from the nearest Post Office.
Replying to queries, Mr. Murthy said they were expected to deliver at
least 5,000 holy water bottles in the city. The Department had received orders
for supply of holy water of the Godavari River during the Godavari Pushkaralu.
A total of 8,400 bookings were done from Visakhapatnam city for supply
of holy water during the Godavari Pushkaralu. He said the water would be
purified and packed and there was no profit-motive in the supply of Krishna
water.
Core banking
Mr. Murthy said core banking has been completed and all the 66
Departmental Post Offices in the city have been made online.
