Bangalore, Sept. 23 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a rally here today , announced that effective from October, the minimum pension for all former Government of India employees would be Rs 1000.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi said, "There are 32 lakh people who are former employees of the Government of India who used to get pensions ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 200. The rest of the country can eat their fill, but his pocket is never filled. Thus, we have started schemes to reverse this trend so that the farmer can live with pride."

The Prime Minister also talked of addressing the unemployment problem in the country, saying, "The youth want employment and if employed, this country will not be behind anybody as far as development is concerned and India is fortunate to have 65 per cent of its population under the age of 35 years.
