Respected Madam,
IP/ASP would like to bring to your kind notice that a proposal for merger of ASP cadre in to PS Gr. B cadre was forwarded to Directorate under letter of even number dated 20/11/2013. This issue was already discussed at length in person with Hon’ble Secretary (Posts), Member (P), DDG (Estt) and Director (Estt) and during the course of discussion; everybody has appreciated the proposal, as since last 33 years no cadre review has been taken place for IP cadre. The issue of parity of GP and promotional prospects of Inspectors in the Department like Income Tax, Customs and Central Excise etc. was also discussed. It was brought to the notice of all the officers that, in other Departments, Inspectors get promotion direct to PS Gr. B but in the DOP there is exists an intermediary grade of ASPs having Gazetted status. The response of the Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure was also informed in the matter of raising the GP of IPs from the existing Rs. 4200/- to Rs. 4600/- so as to bring them on par with Inspectors in other Departments.

It is to further bring to your kind notice that all the circles have submitted the requisite information called for by Directorate vide above referred letter. This vital issue is pending at Directorate since more than 5 months. In case of any query in the matter, this Association may be called for discussion.

It is therefore requested to kindly look into the matter personally and caused to move the proposal to the Nodal Ministry immediately.
                                                                             Yours sincerely,
