The Lok Sabha has been informed that the certificates issued by Madrasa Boards which have been granted equivalence by the State Education Boards to that of their Secondary and Senior Secondary qualifications, have also been equated with corresponding certificates of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Council of Board of School Education in India (COBSE) and other School Examination Boards, for the purpose of employment and entry to higher level education. Giving this information in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Shri Vincent H. Pala, Minister of State for Minority Affairs, said that consequential notification was issued by the Central Government in the Department of Personnel & Training (DOP&T) on 23.02.2010.
Shri Pala also informed the House that Government had appointed a High Level Committee to prepare a report on the social, economic and educational upliftment of the Muslim community of India in 2005 under Justice Rajinder Sachar which submitted its report in 2006.
