The Department of Posts is one Department which is spread to nook and corner of our country. It has the unique reputation of touching the everyday life of the individuals, government, corporate and people from all walks of life. The Department has now completed 150 years of its existence and is poised to grow further. But till recently, the Department was basking under its past glory imagining that its monopoly over mail operations would be unassailable. But as years progressed, the way the Postal Department handled the mail earned it the ubiquitous name snail mail‘ and the Department is not able to shed this uncharitable remark.
