28th All India Postal Hockey Tournament for the year 2014-15 begins today at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneshwar. Shri Dillip Tirkey, Hon'ble MP Rajyasabha and former India Hockey Captain and Padma Shree / Arjun Award winner inaugurated the tournament at Kalinga Stadium Bhubaneshwar.
He made his debut in 1995 against England. He represented India in 1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Olympics and had a total of 412 international caps. He is the only Adivasi to represent India in three Olympics. On May 2, 2010, he announced his retirement from the international arena. He declined to become a national selector on July 16, 2010, three days after he was offered the post by Indian Hockey Federation. Shri Tilak De Chief Postmaster General, Odisha circle also attended the opening ceremony of the tournament as chairperson of the Odisha CSB.
