PATNA:
Chief postmaster general (Bihar circle) ME Haque on Monday launched eIPO
(Indian postal order) and international parcel tracking
service on the occasion of World Post Day. A weeklong programme ,'One World One
Post', was also launched on the occasion.
Addressing
a function on the occasion, Haque said the international parcel tracking
service is to meet the cross-border requirements of e-commerce sector.
"This service has many special features like affordable price, track and
trace, volume discounts, pickup facility and compensation for loss or
damages," he said.
Haque
launched the eIPO in the denomination of Rs10, 20, 50 and 100. People can avail
it from India Post website www.indiapost.gov.in as per their convenience. The
payment will be made through debit card, credit card or internet banking.
"The
purpose of World Post Day is to create awareness about the role of the postal
sector in everyday life of people and businesses and its contribution to the
country's social and economic development. Even with the advent of
technologies, our post offices still serve larger population of the
world," said Haque.
Postmaster general (Bihar circle) Anil Kumar said, "The weeklong
celebrations will highlight the various value-added services launched by the
postal department in the recent past, including several customer-centric
products. Banking day (Oct 10) will be the theme of the first day of the
programme whereas insurance day, stamp collection day, business development
day, mail day and customer grievance redressal day will be organized
accordingly."
Kumar
further said, "Three crore people in Bihar are associated with our banking
service."
