Hon’ble Minister for Communications and Information Technology Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad today launched the “e-Greetings Portal” in the presence of Shri R.S. Sharma, Secretary Department of Electronics The e-Greetings portal has been developed by NIC as part of the the “Digital India” initiative of the Government of India. The current catalog of designs has been specifically designed for sending e-Greetings for the Independence Day,
Inaugurating the portal, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad exhorted all Government employees to send e-Greetings in future to save nature and money. He said the innovative beginning of the Information Technology (IT) department is in-consonance with the larger commitment of the honourable Prime Minister to ensure that there is a proper IT revolution in India followed by connectivity. He said “e-Greetings” on August 15 being created with the larger cooperation of the people of India through crowd sourcing is a step in the right direction.
The objective of the portal is to promote a contemporary and eco-friendly method of sending Greetings by Government officials and agencies to colleagues and friends. The portal allows users to select and send a greeting from several templates available for an occasion. The portal also allows users to select a quote of the Hon’ble PM to be sent as part of the greeting. The Departments can also customize the greetings by adding taglines relating to their programmes of public interest.
e-Greetings portal is unique as most of the creative designs for the Independence Day greetings have been crowd sourced through the recently launched MyGov portal. The campaign was enthusiastically received by MyGov users with 3572 designs submitted. Nearly twenty selected designs are available on the portal.
Launched with creative designs specific to the Independence Day, the creative designs for other national occasions and festivals are also being developed and will be made available on the e-Greeting portal from time to time.
While the portal was initially developed for government users, it is open to all citizens for sending greetings to their family and friends. Users can access the portal using the link http://egreetings.india.gov.in. The link will also be available on the India Portal and MyGov site. To send an e-Greeting, a user needs to be a registered user of the Government Email service/MyGov platform/India Gov platform.
